I traveled to Dubai over a month ago for work, and let me tell you, it was a total surprise!
I’ve only been with SocialCraft for less than two years, and usually, they send team
leaders or department managers on these kinds of trips. The goal is to bring in new
clientele and ensure we’re thoroughly accountable to the ones we already have.
My personal target? Rashid Hussein, the owner and founder of Classical Hotels and
Tours, a super luxurious hospitality business. My department manager, who's almost on
his way out, has been trying to get Rashid on board for ages. Now, it’s my turn. I need
that promotion, and Rashid is my only shot at it.
Navigating the high-stakes world of luxury hospitality is no easy feat, but Dubai’s
dazzling backdrop makes the challenge all the more thrilling. Each day, I’m honing my
pitch, understanding Rashid's preferences, and strategizing how to present SocialCraft
as the perfect partner for Classical Hotels and Tours. This isn’t just about securing a
deal; it’s about proving my mettle and earning my place at the top.
Despite the pressure, Yasmin and Ahmed from work have been amazing guides,
helping me dive into the Dubai experience. They whisked me up the Burj Khalifa, the
tallest building on the planet, with the city sprawled out like a glittering gem below. We
embarked on a full-blown city tour, starting with a serene boat ride along the Dubai
Marina. Imagine gliding through the water, the towering skyscrapers shimmering around
you, and the warm breeze carrying the scent of the sea. We explored the bustling
souks, where the air is thick with the aroma of spices, and every corner is filled with
colorful textiles and intricate trinkets.
One of the most thrilling experiences was the desert safari. Picture this: dune bashing in
a 4x4, the adrenaline pumping as we soared over golden dunes, followed by a tranquil
sunset that painted the sky in shades of orange and pink. We even rode camels and
tried sandboarding—talk about an adventure!
But despite all this excitement, there's a part of me that longs for home. After a month of
new sights and sounds, I crave the familiarity of my own bed, the comfort of my favorite
foods, and oh, how I miss my cozy bed and my cats. My family has been my lifeline,
their nonstop calls a comforting reminder of home.
Dubai is an incredible city, bursting with life and opportunities, but there’s nothing like
the feeling of home. As much as I’ve enjoyed my time here, I’m counting down the days
until I can see familiar faces and taste my mom's cooking again. But for now, I’ll keep
soaking in every moment of this extraordinary adventure and focus on bringing Rashid
Hussein on board, securing that promotion, and making every moment here worth it.

I landed in Dubai less than 48 hours ago, and Muthoni was right—I should’ve arrived a
week earlier. Jet lag is hitting hard, and I’ve been working non-stop since I touched
down. The board approved my proposal, so it's all systems go. With just six hours until
the gala, this event is crucial for landing the investors we need.
Picture this: an opulent ballroom packed with top-tier business people from around the
globe. The pressure is intense, but the energy is electrifying. I need to showcase our
latest tech innovation and make a memorable impression. The stakes are sky-high.
This is my moment to get people excited about what we do. My pitch needs to be
flawless, my delivery smooth, and my confidence unwavering. The stress is real, but the
adrenaline is pumping.
Unfortunately, there’s no time for sightseeing this trip. I won’t be visiting the Burj Khalifa,
exploring the souks, or cruising the Dubai Marina. Instead, I’m deep in
preparation—fine-tuning my pitch, anticipating questions, and gearing up for the
networking frenzy.
Despite the chaos, being in this vibrant city is invigorating. The energy here is
contagious, and every moment feels like a step closer to success.
So here I am, just six hours away from the gala. It’s a high-stakes game, and I’m ready
to give it my all. Wish me luck—tonight, everything is on the line.
